What the award is based on

Houzz is a home renovation and design platform where homeowners hire trades, then rate the work afterwards. Best of Houzz for service is not something a company applies for and not something a panel votes on. Houzz reads a full year of client reviews and ratings on a professional’s profile and gives the service award to the firms whose feedback held steady across the whole twelve months. A strong quarter does not qualify anybody, and neither does one memorable job.

That structure is the reason we point to it. A trade award that a company can buy, enter, or nominate itself for tells a homeowner nothing. One that is assembled out of what past clients said, over a period long enough to include the bad weeks as well as the good ones, is worth citing.

What the 2017 reviews were about

Almost none of the work behind that year was glamorous. Fogged insulated units replaced in existing frames, a patio door that had stopped latching, a single pane broken by a rock from a mower, shower glass measured and fitted. Most glass work arrives unplanned, at an awkward moment, and what people ended up rating was whether we showed up when we said we would, measured correctly the first time, and came back with the right piece of glass. Our residential glass services still run the same way.

We have kept the 2017 award on the site rather than quietly retiring it, because dated proof is more useful than a vague statement about quality. The year is on it. The profile is public. You can decide how much weight it deserves.
